BEARD TRANSPLANT
What is a Beard Transplant?
A beard transplant is a type of hair transplant which extracts the healthy hair follicles from the donor region (the back of your head) and then implants them into the bald spots of your beard.
Each follicle is implanted individually so as to create:
- The direction of natural beard growth
- Evenness of density of the beard
- The defined edges of the beard
- A symmetrical face
Because of the difference in angles of facial hair growth, as well as the varying densities (cheek, jawline, chin, mustache) of these areas, each follicle must be precisely placed to provide a natural look.

Recovery and Growth Timeline
Recovery usually uneventful. The first few days post-procedure you may notice:
- Slight redness around the treated area
- Small scabs that protect the newly implanted hairs
Temporary loss of the transplanted hairs may occur within the first few weeks of the procedure; this is a normal phase of the growth cycle of the new hairs.
Over time the new beard will begin to develop and grow for approximately 8-12 months until the transplanted hairs reach their maximum growth potential.
The transplanted hairs are permanent and will grow like your other hairs.
Male Features
A beard contributes greatly to defining masculinity in a man. Therefore, the design must take into account:
- The shape of the jawline
- The projection of the chin
- The ratio of the facial features
- Your desired style of beard
The goal is not just to add density to your beard but to also create definition that will enhance the masculine features of the patient’s face without looking unnatural or disproportionate.

Beard Transplant Procedure
The beard transplantation is conducted under local anesthesia in a controlled and sanitary environment.
The steps involved in the procedure include:
- Cautious removal of the follicular units
- The strategic placement of the follicular units according to the anatomy of the beard
- The conservative planning of the density of the beard
- The consideration of the symmetry of the face
Most patients are calm during the procedure, and the majority of patients report no discomfort during the process.
